Yunio Barrueta became the Bucs’ all-time leading scorer (1781) and rebounder (858), despite only playing three seasons. He earned All-America honors from six different presenters over his career, earning the most awards in program history. He was also an All-South Region pick all three years, a three-time all-conference selection, and two-time Barry Male Athlete of the Year (2015 & 2016). In three seasons in the league, he won a major award twice as 2013-14 SSC Newcomer of the Year and the 2015-16 conference Player of the Year. He holds school records for rebounding average (9.3) and ranks second in scoring average (19.4) for his career. He shot 49.8 percent from the field, including 41.1 percent from 3-point range and ranks seventh in blocked shots (83). He also owns school season records for points, scoring average, field goals, 3-pointers, defensive rebounds, games played and started. The only player to top 40 points in three different games, he also ranks in the top 10 for rebounds (18 – T-4th); steals (6 – T-3rd); 3-pointers made (10 – T-1st), field goals (17 – T-2nd). Barrueta has continued his career overseas, playing in Belgium, France, and Israel.
