29 NCAA Championships
Barry University has won 29 NCAA Division II National Championships in eight different sports. Since the 2004-2005 academic year, Barry's 25 titles ranks first in the Sunshine State Conference "The Conference of National Champions!" and third overall in NCAA Division II.
Women's Soccer Championships 2020
Women's soccer has won three national championships. They earned the program's first ever title in 1989 and were the first to win back-to-back in 1992 and 1993. All of the championships came under the direction of former athletic director and head coach Mike Covone.

Buccaneers Win Back-to-Back National Soccer Championships

Volleyball Championships
Volleyball has won three championships, the first under Leonid Yellin and the last two under Dave Nichols. The 1995 and 2004 championships were both won in the Health & Sports Center on Barry's campus.

Volleyball Brings Home Division II Title

GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan -- For the second time in school history, Barry University was crowned the NCAA Division II National Champions after trouncing the South Dakota State Jackrabbits 3-0 in the final match and ending the 2001 season with a 21-game win streak. [read more]

Men's Golf Championships
Men's golf has captured three national championships, all under former head coach Jimmy Stobs. The first title (2007) came under stroke play rules, while the last two have been in the current match-play format.

Michigan Made: Men's Golf Revisits NCAA Championship Glory

ALLENDALE, Mich. - Call it a sweet repeat in Pure Michigan.

Barry University's No. 1-ranked men's golf team repeated as NCAA Division II National Champions, beating Nova Southeastern, 3-1-1 in the match play finals at The Meadows Golf Course. Sweet Success: Men's Golf Wins NCAA Championship

HERSHEY, Pa. - It can't get any sweeter for Barry University men's golf.

Barry defeated Lynn by four strokes to break a 2-2-1 tiebreaker in the NCAA Division II National Championship match Friday at the par-71, 6,984-yard Hershey Country Club course. It marks the Buccaneers' second national title in the program's history. [read more]

Men's Golf Wins NCAA Division II Championship

ALLENDALE, Mich. - Hernan Borja (Sr., Coral Springs, Fla.) finished second out of 105 individuals with a four-round score of 291 (+7) to lead the Barry University men's golf team to their first NCAA Division II national title in school history. [read more]

Men's Tennis Champions
Men's tennis has seven national championships, five under the direction of former head coach Dr. George Samuel and two Thomas Hipp. The 2013 team was the first team in school history to post a perfect season (no losses or ties).

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The Buccaneers seem to be right at home here.

No. 2 Barry beat No. 1 Hawai'i Pacific, 5-3, to win the NCAA Division II National Championship Saturday at Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex. It marked the second time in three years the Buccaneers (26-0) won it all in Surprise. [read more]

Men's Tennis Nets National Title

SURPRISE, Ariz. - El Presidente laid down the law once again, and Barry University men's tennis team became a national champion Saturday.

In a match that was as dramatic as they come, No. 1 Barry outlasted No. 2 Armstrong Atlantic in a 5-4 thriller to secure the program's second NCAA Division II National Championship. It marked the university athletic program's 10th national title in school history. [read more]

FINALLY! Men's Tennis Wins National Championship

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.-Despite falling behind 4-2 in the NCAA DII national Championship match, the Barry men's tennis team won four of the six singles matches to capture the all-elusive national championship 5-4 over the #1 Valdosta State Blazers. This group of Bucs, who finished runner up in 2008 and 2009, finally won the title on their third try. [read more]

Women's_Tennis_2025
Women's tennis, with an NCAA Division II record nine national championships, has the most titles of any Barry program. They became the first D-II women's tennis team to win six straight titles from 2017-23, with 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022 and 2023, all being undefeated seasons. The 30-0 record in 2017 is the best perfect season ever at Barry. All nine titles have come under head coach Avi Kigel in the last 15 years.

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.--  The top-ranked Barry Buccaneers battled down to the wire with their rivals Nova Southeastern before coming away with their ninth NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament Championship at Sanlando Park on Sunday. FIVE-PEAT! Women's Tennis Captures Fifth Straight National Championship

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- It wasn't easy, but the top-ranked Barry Buccaneers set an NCAA Division II record with their fifth straight women's tennis championship, by rallying back to beat the fourth-ranked Central Oklahoma Bronchos 4-1 at Sanlando Park on Saturday.

Women's Tennis Wins Third Straight National Championship

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- Top-seeded Barry defeated #3 Lynn 4-2 to win the 2019 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis National Championship on Saturday at Sanlando Park.

The win propels the Bucs to their third straight women's tennis championship and fifth overall. As a whole, the Buccaneers have now won 22 NCAA Division II Championships after also taking men's soccer in the fall and men's tennis this spring. The three titles in this academic year break the record set in four previous seasons of two (2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2016-17). The three straight by women's tennis also is the most for the Buccaneer program, breaking the mark of two they held with women's soccer (1992-93), men's golf (2013-14) and rowing (2015-16). Rowing Championships
Rowing captured back-to-back titles under former head coach Boban Rankovic in 2015 and 2016. The Bucs swept both races (Varsity 4 and Varsity 8) both seasons.

Women's Golf Championships
Women's golf became the seventh different Buccaneer program to win the national championship. Head coach Shannon Sykora led the team to the 2017 title.

Championship program number eight is men's soccer who posted an improbable run to the national championship in 2018 under long-time head coach Steve McCrath. The Bucs boasted an outstanding defense that lifted them to a pair of shootouts in the tournament.
