New Athletic Branding
The redesigned Bucky should be used beginning July 1, 2026

The Barry University athletic department has a new look heading into the 2026-27 academic year, with an updated Bucky and associated word and secondary marks, building a robust palette to represent the department. The redesigned Bucky should be used beginning July 1, 2026. After this date, no items featuring the previous unbranded Bucky should be used under any circumstances.

Barry University and Buccaneer Athletics benefit from the public recognition of its name, symbols, logos and other identifying marks giving Barry a unifying image that distinguishes its programs from other universities. Barry has a responsibility to protect the use of its trademarked logos and identifying marks to ensure the quality and consistency matches the University. All royalties from the licensing program benefit the University to support the department's overall strategic mission. All vendors using any of the trademarked logos or wordmarks that represent Barry U Buccaneer athletics must be licensed.

All uses, print or electronic, must be approved by the athletics department prior to application. Questions and approvals can be directed to the Office of Athletic Communications.

The official Barry University Athletics logo should be used ONLY on materials related to athletics. Size – the athletics logo must never be printed smaller than the minimum size of 2 ¼ inches across.

The logo is also available in a one-color version. Please contact Athletic Communications for the official marks.

The official Barry U lockup wordmark is a secondary logo. It also should not be printed below the the minimum size of 2 ¼ inches across.

The official colors should always be used when reproducing the official marks. Barry's primary colors are Red (PMS 187 C), Black (PMS Black C) and Silver (PMS Cool Gray 7 C). Other colors in the palette should only be used when reproducing the official Bucky mark.

Typography
Official Typefaces

The Beechwood font is the primary font for athletic items do to its high impact and legibility. The Modish font is secondary and should only be used sparingly and on select items.

Prior to 1997, the athletic department had no official logos or marks. Various images were used to represent the Buccaneers during this time.

This wordmark was used prior to 1997.

The shield has been part of the Barry University seal since the founding. It has been used by athletics as a mark from time to time.

The first official athletic mark was designed in 1997. It included the shield as well as the words Barry University Buccaneers. It was used from 1997-2001.

Bucky was updated for reproduction in full color in 2001. It remained in use until 2008.

In 2004-05, the department celebrated its 20th anniversary with a special mark used just that year.

After going back to the updated Bucky logo from 2005-2008, the Bucs celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2009-10 with another one-year mark.

After the 25th anniversary, the Bucs retired the Bucky mark and introduced a new mark, featuring the shield and keeping a version of Barry University Buccaneers.

The Bucs celebrated their 30th anniversary in 2014.

The department brought back Bucky with a new palette of marks in 2015. This remained the primary athletic mark until June, 30, 2026.

The 35th anniversary of athletics used this mark in 2019.

The Bucs celebrated 40 years of academic and athletic excellence in 2024 with this mark.
