Mickisha Hurley is the most dominant volleyball player to play for the Buccaneers. She was a First Team All-American in 1994 and 1995, and led the nation in hitting percentage in 1994 at .437 (a school record). She led the Buccaneers to the NCAA Division II national championship in 1995, and was voted to the Elite Eight All-Tournament team. Hurley was a three-time All-South Region selection and a four-time All-Sunshine State Conference choice. She was voted the SSC’?s Player of the Year in 1995, and named the league?s Athlete of the Year in June, 1996. She was inducted in the SSC Hall of Fame in 2002.
Hurley was the only small college player on the USA Women’?s National Volleyball Team at the 1998 Olympics. She traveled to the Far East in August 1997 for the World Grand Prix Championships. She competed for the West Squad at the 1994 U.S. Olympic Festival. Mickisha holds five Barry career records: Kills (1683), Hitting Percentage (.385), Block Solos (127), Block Assists (332) and Total Blocks (459). She also holds four single-season marks and three single match records.
