For over 40 years, Barry University has been educating student athletes who excel, not only in their sport of choice, but also in classrooms, in laboratories, and in the communities where they give back. Barry's formula for intercollegiate athletics has produced winning teams and winning graduates who are thriving in the workplace as leaders in their chosen fields.
The Bucs have advanced at least five of their 20 teams to NCAA post-season play in each of the last 25 years and have claimed 28Â NCAA Division II National Championships. Since Fall of 2001, Barry's athletic teams have complied a combined cumulative GPA of better than 3.0 and in the Spring Semester of 2020, 87.7 percent of all student-athletes finished with a term GPA of 3.0 or better. In the spring of 2023, a record of 83.7 percent of the student-athletes carried a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
The Buccaneers compete in the Sunshine State Conference - the conference of national champions. Barry has won 113 SSC titles in 14 different sports since it joined the conference in 1988. The Buccaneers have also won the SSC Mayors Cup All-Sports Trophy on eight occasions: five for women in 1990-91, 1996-97, 1999-00, 2001-02 and 2005-06; and three for men in 2006-07, 2008-09 and 2010-11.
