MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—Both the men's and women's basketball teams will host Florida Tech in a Sunshine State Conference double header on Wednesday.

The Bucs (9-2, 6-1 SSC) had won seven in a row, after losing to Lee University, before dropping an SSC game against Saint Leo. The Bucs won the last two games with Eckerd and Embry-Riddle due to both teams forfeiting because of CoVID. The Bucs are tied for second in the SSC at 6-1, with wins over Florida Southern, Lynn, Rollins, Nova Southeastern, Eckerd and Embry-Riddle. The Panthers had only won two games, and had to cancel two games due to CoVID with Embry-Riddle, and Eckerd. The Panthers got back on the court, but lost their last two games with Palm Beach Atlantic and Tampa. Florida Tech has beaten Flager and Edward Waters out of conference.
The Bucs are tied for first-highest scoring offense in conference, led by the trio of Chiara Fusari, Emma Hergot and Harriet Swindells. In a testament to the depth of the team, leader Fusari ranks just 13th in the conference in scoring at 12.4 points per game. Hergot ranks first in the conference in rebounds with 7.9 and just ranks 14th in the conference in scoring 11.5 points. Swindells chips in 10.2 points and ranks 8th in assists. Trinity Bosecker leads the conference in blocked shots at 2.1 per game with 23 blocks, while Hergot ranks third with16 blocked shots. Barry also has the second-best scoring margin in the league, and rank fifth in field goal percentage defense, third in 3-point field goal percentage defense and second in turnover margin.
The Panthers (2-11, 0-8 SSC) are ninth in the offense, tenth in league in defense and last in margin. Severine Uggen leads the team with 12.9 points and ranks ninth in the conference in scoring. Hannah Roney leads the conference on 3-point field goal percentage with 44.2 and adds 11.1 points per game. Fanny Hakanson leads the conference in assists 5.7 and is seventh in steals 2.0.

The men's team (10-2, 5-2 SSC) won seven straight to start the season and vaulted up to 12th in the national poll. They currently sit at #18 and tied for second in the conference. On the first game of the new year, Bucs won 98-84, beating Saint Leo on the road. The Bucs won the last two games with Eckerd (forfeit) and with #22 Embry-Rdidle (96-87). The Panthers (9-4, 3-5 SSC) are seventh in the conference, and due to CoVID, they had to cancel three games, Embry-Riddle, Eckerd and Palm Beach Atlantic. The Panthers loss their last game Tampa.
Barry is second in the conference in scoring and in margin. They have topped the 100-point mark five times in nine games, and 90 in four others. For all that, the Bucs are a very balanced team, with eight players averaging at least seven points per game, led by Nick Anderson (16.1), Jake Kakar (14.5) and Michael Schaefer (13.9). Anderson also leads the conference in 3-point field goal percentage at 48.9 and ranks 11th in scoring. Kakar ranks sixth in 3-point field goal percentage with 43.3. The Bucs have one of the deepest teams in the league. Barry reserves, through 16 games, are averaging 35.9 points per game – 21.8 points more than their counterparts.
The Panthers are fourth in the league in scoring and fifth in margin. Sesan Russell leads the Panthers with 17.6 points per game and ranks third assists. Mekhii Noble chips in 15.7 points per game, leads the conference in rebounding with 11.9 and ranks second in field goal percentage at 60.7. Runako Ziegler also averages double figures at 14.3 points per game.
