Women's Basketball Canceled Against Embry-Riddle

Bucs receive forfeit after ERAU invokes CoVID protocols

WBB Update

Women's Basketball | 1/7/2022 1:54:00 PM

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Sunshine State Conference women's basketball game between Barry and Embry-Riddle scheduled for Saturday, January 8, 2022 has been canceled. This game will not be rescheduled.

From the SSC: "If a team cannot play a scheduled conference game due to COVID-19 reasons, that game will not be rescheduled and the team will be given a forfeit loss. That loss will affect their record in the SSC conference standings and also affect tournament seeding and awarding of the SSC AQ, if applicable. Their opponent will be given a forfeit win. The NCAA has a long-standing policy of not recognizing such forfeitures and deeming canceled games 'no contests.' A SSC forfeiture will have no affect on selection for NCAA championships, player statistics or coaching records."

Per Sunshine State Conference policy, the Barry women's basketball team will receive a win by forfeit due to the fact that ERAU is unable to play.

Barry is scheduled to be back on the court on Wednesday, January 12 hosting Florida Tech at 5:30 pm.
