Basketball Games Against Eckerd Canceled Due To CoVID Protocols

Barry receives forfeit wins as per conference policy

Basketball Update

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Sunshine State Conference men's and women's basketball games between Barry and Eckerd scheduled for Wednesday, January 5, 2022 have been canceled. These games will not be rescheduled.

From the SSC: "If a team cannot play a scheduled conference game due to COVID-19 reasons, that game will not be rescheduled and the team will be given a forfeit loss. That loss will affect their record in the SSC conference standings and also affect tournament seeding and awarding of the SSC AQ, if applicable. Their opponent will be given a forfeit win. The NCAA has a long-standing policy of not recognizing such forfeitures and deeming canceled games 'no contests.' A SSC forfeiture will have no affect on selection for NCAA championships, player statistics or coaching records."

Per Sunshine State Conference policy, the Barry men's and women's basketball teams will receive wins by forfeit due to the fact that Eckerd is unable to play.

Barry is scheduled to be back on the court on Saturday, January 8 at Embry-Riddle. The women are scheduled for 4:00 pm and the men at 6:00 pm.
