Tennis Teams Earn Regional Bids

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Both of Barry's men's and women's tennis teams punched their tickets to the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Championships after both teams won the SSC conference title. The Buccaneer women will host the South Region 1, while the men earned a No. 3 Seed. The NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Tennis Committee selected the 48 teams that will be participating in the 2023 NCAA Division II Tennis Championships. The winning team from each site will advance to the finals at The UTSA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. Rollins College and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission will serve as hosts.

MEN'S
The Bucs will take on No. 6 seeded Auburn-Montgomery on Friday, Apr. 28th at 2 p.m. The Bucs hold a 7-3 edge in the overall series, having won five in a row. This will be the first post-season meeting with the Warhawks, who were formerly members of the NAIA.

Coming off of their sixth-straight SSC title and a six game winning streak, the Bucs will participate in their 27th NCAA Tournament appearance since 1995. Barry has won six national championships (20102013201520192021, 2022) and have finished runner up seven more times. Their 13 appearances in the national title match is an NCAA Division II record.

WOMEN'S
The Bucs will take on Benedict in the first round. The Bucs won the only other previous meeting with the Tigers, 5-0 at the 2016 South Regional in Boca Raton.

Riding a 83 match win streak, the Buccaneers have 30 previous appearances in the national tournament since 1991. They have won seven national championships (201120142017201820192021, 2022), tying BYU-Hawai'i for the second-most in division, including the last five in a row, which is a division record, and have finished runner up twice.
