SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The Barry Buccaneers out-raced the top-ranked UIndy Greyhounds 4-0 to claim their fourth straight national championship at the 2021 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Tournament at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex on Friday.
Barry has won six overall and four straight titles.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bucs made another strong statement in doubles, winning at #1 and #3 and taking the point from the Greyhounds for the first time this season.
- Tenth-ranked Khazan and Bosnjak beat top-ranked Alekseeva and Novikova 6-4 at number one.
- Kim Moosbacher and Daniela Farfan posted a 6-3 win over Sharanova and Solnyshkina at nymber three.
- Farfan proceeded to run rough-shod over Sharonova at number six singles, winning 6-0, 6-3 in under an hour.
- After dropping her semifinal match, Engelmann had a big comeback win over #8 Novikova at number two singles, 6-4, 6-1.
- Second-ranked Khazan won six straight games to take the first set from top-ranked Alekseeva, but in the second set, the Greyhound found her feet and rebounded from down 5-3 and a match point to take a 6-5 lead and was serving for the set. But Khazan got the break she needed to force a tiebreaker. She took a 3-0 lead, then fought Alekseeva off down the stretch to win 7-5 and clinch the title.
- The remaining matches went unfinished.
NOTES
- The Bucs won their sixth overall national championship and fourth in a row.
- Barry tied SIU-Edwardsville (1986-89) as the only teams to win four straight titles in Division II women's tennis.
- Barry's six titles are third in Division history behind Armstrong (8) and BYU-Hawai'i (7). Both Armstrong and BYU-Hawai'i have eliminated their athletic programs.
- For Barry's overall atletic program, it is their 24th national championship and 19th since 2004.
- Barry dropped just four points all season and only 17 singles sets on the year. Farfan did not lose a set all year.
- Barry has now beaten the Greyhounds in both meetings.
