ORLANDO, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference has announced their annual preseason coaches' poll. The Buccaneers women's volleyball team was selected to finish second, while earning two first place votes. All 11 head coaches voted on the poll, with no team allowed to vote for their own.
Tampa was selected to finish first, earning nine first place votes. The Bucs followed in second, with Palm Beach Atlantic rounding out the top three. Last season the Buccaneers went 25-5 with a 16-4 record in SSC play, finishing as runner-up in the league. The team however did clinch an at-large bid and was seeded second in the NCAA South Regional, where they fell in the final.
Barry is set to kick off the season with a trip to the Northeast at the Sandy Hoffman Memorial Tournament, hosted by Bentley. Two of the three opponents are mentioned in the receiving votes of the poll in Central Missouri and Grand Valley State. Bentley checks in at 22nd in the preseason poll.
