MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Director of Volleyball Leonid Yelin announced the final addition of the 2026 class in libero transfer, Kae Sato.
Sato joins the Buccaneers after a one-year stint at New Mexico Military Institute. The Japanese defensive specialist totaled 673 digs with a 4.91 digs per set average over 137 sets played in 35 matches. Sato also tallied 158 assists and 31 services aces. The Bronco's went 24-11 and made it all the way to the NJCAA DI Volleyball Championship.
During Sato's time at NMMI, the libero was named a NJCAA DI All-American Second-Team member and earned three WJCAC Player of the Week honors. Her 673 digs were second in the nation and led the team.
"As an international student, I chose Barry University because of its diverse community and the large number of international students. I felt that it would be a great environment for me to grow both academically and as a volleyball player. I'm excited to take on a new challenge and become part of the team," Sato said.
The Bucs will open up their season on August 27 against Central Missouri at the Sandy Hoffman Memorial Tournament in Waltham, Massachusetts from the Dana Center.
