MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Director of Volleyball Leonid Yelin adds another freshman to the 2026 class for women's volleyball in Maye McConnell.
McConnell is a native of Fishers, Indiana and was named to the IHSVCA Second-Team All-State in her senior season. The libero accumulated 835 digs for a 3.1 digs per set average in 270 sets played throughout her high school career. That went along with 127 serves aces and 213 assists. On serve receive, McConnell held a .932 career reception percentage. During her senior campaign, McConnell led Hamilton Southeastern to a 29-4 record.
Hamilton Southeastern was nationally ranked 45th at the end of the season in the MaxPreps high school ranking. McConnell set a HSE record for digs in a single match with 36. She also won a state championship in her sophomore year at Hamilton Southeastern, going a perfect 33-0 that season. Overall she held a 94-7 record during her time at HSE.
"I chose Barry because of the environment and the people. When I visited campus, the team was incredibly welcoming and I immediately felt comfortable. The energy around the program felt like the right fit for me. Barry also offers several majors that I'm interested in pursuing, including Marine Biology, which isn't available at many schools. Being able to continue my volleyball career while studying something I'm passionate about made Barry the perfect choice for me," McConnell said.
The Bucs will open up their season on August 27 against Central Missouri at the Sandy Hoffman Memorial Tournament in Waltham, Massachusetts from the Dana Center.
