ORLANDO, Fla. – Freshmen, Valeriya Kozlova had a stand out performance at the Embry-Riddle Invitational leading to recognition as the Sunshine State Conference offensive volleyball player of the week presented by Pollo Campreo for the week of Sept. 15-21.
Kozlova averaged 5.86 kills per set as Barry went 2-0 at the Embry-Riddle Invitational last week. The Russian began the event with six kills off 15 attempts and no errors for a .400 attack percentage in a sweep of Seton Hill. Kozlova followed with a match-high 35 kills on 65 attempts with four errors for a .484 attack percentage as the Buccaneers bested Lewis in four sets. Her 35-kill performance is tied for the fifth most in an SSC four-set match and fourth most for a Buccaneer. For the week, Kozlova totaled 41 kills and a .468 attack percentage while averaging 6.93 points, 1.14 blocks, 1.00 digs, and 0.43 service aces per set. She currently leads the SSC in hitting percentage is eighth in kills per set and points per set.
The 7-0 Bucs will return home to open up Sunshine State Conference play against County-Line Cup rival, Nova Southeastern on Friday evening from the Health and Sports Center gym.
