TAMPA, Fla. – The third-ranked and second-seeded Barry University Women's Volleyball team is dancing in December for the second year in a row. This time, the Buccaneers hit the road and head up to Central Florida to the Bob Martinez Athletic Center for the NCAA South Regional. The tournament is single elimination and will take place from December 4-6.

BREAKING DOWN THE TRITONS
The Buccaneers swept the season series over Eckerd for the 2025 season, winning in four sets both outings. The Tritons come in as the seventh seed earning an at-large bid after a 19-12 regular season, going 9-11 in Sunshine State action. They had two All-SSC members with outside hitter Kinga Michalska earning first-team honors and setter Gabi Jedrzejczak placing on the third-team. Statistically, the Buccaneers hold the edge in nearly every category, the closest that both teams hold the 1-2 spot is in service aces with the Tritons averaging 1.99 per set to the Bucs 2.04. Eckerd returns to the postseason after missing out last year, making their last appearance in 2023.

The Buccaneers make their 19th NCAA Tournament appearance. It has a been a triple threat offense, mixed with timely defense that has propelled Barry this season. Varvara Osychenko, Veronika Eremeeva and Valeriya Kozlova had held down the offensive portion. All three earned All-SSC recognition with Eremeeva and Kozlova on the first-team and Osychenko with her third straight second-team spot. Ivana Zujovic had her first All-Conference honor with a spot of the third team. All three middles are in the top-8 for the conference in blocks per set. The Buccaneers led in four of the seven major categories in the SSC, with the most per set averages in points, assists, blocks, and service aces. Kozlova was the first player in SSC history to earn Freshman and Player of the Year in the same season.

INSIDE THE FIELD
The bracket is made up of five Sunshine State Conference, two Gulf South Conference and one Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams. The Buccaneers have not faced off against any non-SSC team in the bracket. Against SSC schools they have a 4-4 record of those in the field, falling twice to Tampa and Palm Beach Atlantic, but swept defending national champion Lynn and Eckerd.

Tampa has the most impressive record coming in undefeated at 28-0 and earning the automatic bid winning the SSC Regular Season title at 20-0. The Buccaneers finished in second in the conference for the second straight year. Lynn and Barry have swapped places from the regional seeding last year. The Fighting Knights come in as the three seed after a 21-9 regular season campaign with an 11-9 league record. PBA has had a turnaround season winning the most games in a season since 2018 (22). They finished the regular season 22-9 and 12-8 in SSC play. It is their first time back in the postseason since 2021.

West Florida and Spring Hill earn the other two automatic bids in the region. UWF (27-5) won their ninth consecutive GSC title, where Spring Hill (26-5) won their seventh straight SIAC title. The Argonauts will be the four seed and will be competing in their 19th straight NCAA regional. Alabama-Huntsville earned an at-large bid and return to the postseason for the first time since 2021. The Chargers went 24-7 and 15-5 in GSC play.
