LEXINGTON, Ky. – Barry Women's Volleyball freshmen Valeriya Kozlova continues to stack up the trophy case in her first year, earning her second AVCA DII National Player of the Week honor. Kozlova is the seventh Buccaneer to earn the honor, only the second to earn is more than once and twice in the same season (Diana Akopova, 2022).
Kozlova averaged 7.17 kills per set and hit .440 in Barry's sweeps over Florida Tech and Embry-Riddle. In her first action of the week, the Russian tallied a match-high 21 kills off 47 attempts and three errors for a .383 attack percentage in a sweep of Florida Tech. Kozlova followed with a match-high 22 kills on 37 attempts with three errors for a .514 attack percentage as the Buccaneers bested ERAU in three sets. Her performances stand as the most and second-most kills in a three-set SSC match this season. For the week, Kozlova totaled 43 kills while averaging 8.83 points, 1.83 digs, 1.67 blocks, and 0.83 service aces per set. The freshman had three sets of nine kills and one set with 10 on the week.
