MIAMI SHORES, FLA. - The Barry University softball program looks to honor alumnus Amber Jack on Friday, Mar. 1 during "Amber Jack Night" when the Bucs begin their three-game Sunshine State Conference series against nationally-ranked Saint Leo.
Prior to Friday's 6 pm start, Jack will throw out a ceremonial first pitch at the Buccaneer Softball Fiels and will be on the broadcast for the game. Jack's legacy at Barry was solidified on Jan. 25 when she was inducted into Barry's Wall of Honor.
One of the most accomplished pitchers in Barry softball history, Jack earned All-America honors in 2008 and 2009. In addition, she was the SSC and NCAA South Region Pitcher of the Year in 2008, leading the Bucs to a #1 national ranking and the D-II World Series. She holds 12 school career records, including 91 wins, 10 saves, 50 shutouts, 868.2 innings, 756 strikeouts and the fewest walks allowed at 0.67 per game. She also ranks in the Top-10 in 11 other categories. She later served as assistant coach for the softball team for three seasons, helping lead them to a 78-62 record, including 42-33 in the SSC.
