MELBOURNE, Fla.-- Barry women's volleyball player Diana Akopova was named SSC Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct 7-20, marking the third time that she has won the award this season, eighth overall.

Akopova totaled 31 kills and a .309 hitting percentage across Barry's road wins over Florida Southern and No. 1 Tampa. The Russian began the week with a match-high 17 kills on 45 attempts in a 3-0 result at Florida Southern this past Friday. She followed with a match-high 14 kills on 36 attempts in a sweep of top-ranked Tampa on Saturday. This past weekend, she also gave the Buccaneers 12 digs, six blocks, and two service aces. Akopova averaged 5.17 kills, hitting at a .309 clip, and 2.00 digs per set on her way to a third SSC weekly award this season.

The eight weekly awards moves her up into a tie with Mickisha Hurley (1992-95) for second-place in program history, while Cindy Yuan (1994-97) collected a record 10 awards for her career.
