MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Barry University head softball coach
Sean Cotter has announced the team's 2021 schedule. The Buccaneers' regular season schedule includes 30 games, 15 of which are at home on Buccaneer Field.
FULL SCHEDULE
The Bucs return to the field for the first time since March 10th after splitting a double-header with Caldwell University in The Shores. "I feel great about where we are," Cotter said. "If there is a group that's well equipped to handle what the last 11 months have been like, its the 2021 Buccaneer Softball team." After an offseason of 11 months, 2021 rosters are going to look vastly different than they did last year. "This roster is easily the best that I have had in my four years here. Our staff has been building towards this and as a group, we have depth at every position. We have a lot of experience with transfers from both JUCO and the Division I level," Cotter stated. "The goal this year is to win the conference. We are excited to get things going."
The Bucs return the entire roster with the exception of Peyton Rawls. Key new additions include freshman right-handed pitcher Maci Barnhart (Sebring HS) who is penciled in as the teams number one arm. A pair of junior college players such as outfielder Kaylin Donovan (Monterey Peninsula College) and catcher Maggie Wheless (NW Florida State College) are expected to be hitting at the top of the lineup. Add them with returners like Courtney Chisholm who led the Sunshine State Conference in hits (41), Payton Germer who led the team in home runs (2) and RBI (15) and Taylor Checkley who was second on the team in hits (31) and stolen bases (12).
All home and conference games will be broadcast on the SSC Digital Network.
