MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Barry University head softball coach Sean Cotter has announced the team's 2020 schedule. The Buccaneers' regular season schedule includes 37 games at home on Buccaneer Field. It ties the 1990 season when the Bucs also played 37 ball games in The Shores.

FULL SCHEDULE

Cotter will enter his 3rd season as head coach of the Bucs with nine newcomers and 13 returners.

"We're certainly excited to get the 2020 season going in a few months," Cotter said. "I think what stands out in our schedule is the amount of home games. 37 is a big number and I think it will benefit a team that is still so young. Anytime you have a team like North Georgia come in to play at Buccaneer Field, that is pretty exciting, but our schedule has plenty of perennial regional participants. That list includes Caldwell, Kutztown, and Columbus State. On top of that we get to open up the season against two good Peach Belt Teams in the Flagler kickoff," Cotter added.

Barry heads up to Saint Augustine for two games against Georgia Southwestern and Flagler during the Flagler kick-off on January 31-February 2.

The Buccaneer home schedule will begin on February 6th against Washburn University for double-header action. The Ichabod's had a down year last season after going 39-14 in 2018, clinching a regular season championship and earning an NCAA tournament bid.

The 30-game SSC schedule begins Friday, February 14th at home against the Eckerd Tritons. The Bucs swept a three-game series against the Tritons last season, winning two of the three in five innings. The first SSC game at home is against Embry-Riddle on Friday, February 19th. The Eagles finished 26-19 last season with a 17-13 conference record.

"We know the conference is always tough and this year's home conference schedule is loaded with 2019 NCAA participants. Florida Tech, Tampa, and Saint Leo are all making the trip down to Miami Shores," Cotter said.

A couple of key SSC games at Buccaneer Field include the 2019 Mountain East Conference Champions, the West Liberty Hilltoppers on March 9th. It was the first conference championship for the Lady Hilltoppers after having their season end one step shy of a regional title. Columbus State finished 35-16 last season in which they took a pair of one-run games against the Bucs. The Cougars make their way to The Shores on March 17. The defending SSC Champions, Florida Tech will travel to Buccaneer Field on the weekend of April 4th for a three-game series.

All home and conference games will be broadcast on the SSC Digital Network. Admission to games will cost $5 with BarryU students, staff and faculty allowed in free with their ID card.
