Base Knocks:
- THUNDER & LIGHTNING: The Buccaneers have flashed both power and speed this season. The Bucs are tied for second in the conference in homers (27), fourth in doubles (54) and triples (8). They are also third in the conference in stole bases (79).
- THE LEADERS: Seniors Jasmine Harris and Cheyanne Head are two of the big reasons why. Harris is tied for the conference lead in doubles (17) and homers (10). She leads the league with a .712 slugging percentage and 46 RBI. She is second in batting (.390) and hits (57). Head is second in the conference in triples (4) and in stolen bases (29). The two are tied for eighth in runs scored (32).
- STALKING THE SAILFISH: The 'Fish are in their last season as provisional members of the SSC. Freshman outfielder Magnolia West would be tops in the conference with a .471 batting average.Senior Kayla Knight has 11 triples, which is more than twice the total of the conference leader. Those are the only two batters hitting above .300. The Sailfish are also pretty aggressive on the bases, with West (20), Maddie Bertisch (18) and Claudia Pizzarelli (13) all having double figures.
- ET CETERA, ET CETERA: The Bucs dominated the early series, winning the first 15 games. The Sailfish have had the best of it lately, winning 13 of the last 17 since 2013.
