WatchTHUNDER AND LIGHTNING: Seniors
Dee Espinosa and
Kayla Ogle are powering the Buccaneer attack this season. Ogle is one of the top leadoff hitters in the league. She leads with 36 runs scored and 29 stolen bases, is second with an on-base percentage of .505 and fifth in batting at .404. Espinosa is one of the top power hitters, ranking fourth in slugging (.635), tied for third in RBI (34) and tied for second in doubles (12).
TOP PITCHER: Sophomore
Geneva Santos earned SSC Pitcher of the Week honors after picking up two wins and a save in a sweep of Eckerd. She threw five shutout innings with just one hit in a 5-3 opening win; tossed 1.1 innings to hold off the Tritons in a 4-3 win to take the series; then allowed just one run on six hits in 6.2 innings to complete the sweep. In all, she threw 13.0 innings with a 1.08 ERA.
OLD HOME: It'll be a reunion of sorts for catcher
Dee Espinosa, who played for the Eagles in 2013 and 2014. She was the first player to ever sign with the Eagles. Last season, she was the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year in her first season for the Bucs.
FIRST MEETING: The series will mark the first meetings between the teams. Embry-Riddle just started its softball program in 2013.
