NO SECOND BANANA: Senior
Megan Copeland ranks second on the team in numerous categories. He is second on the team (and eighth in the conference) in batting at .373, second on the team in both runs scored (22) and RBI (21), second in stolen bases (12-of-14) and second in sacrifice bunts (6). She is also one of the toughest in the nation to strikeout, having K'ed just three times in 124 plate appearances.
FRESHMEN DUO: The freshmen pitching duo of
Lynsey Duncan and
Anieliese Palmeiro led the Bucs to a doubleheader sweep of Embry-Riddle last weekend. After suffering through a run-rule loss on Friday night, the rookies posted 6-1 and 5-0 wins over the Eagles on Saturday. In 14.0 innings, the pair combined for just one run on eight hits. Duncan picked up her first career win, while Palmeiro tossed her second career shutout.
SOMETHING'S GOTTA GIVE: The Bucs are second in the conference in batting at .323 and average 5.15 runs per game. The Tars are second in the conference in pitching with a 1.85 ERA and surrender just 2.10 runs per game.
SERIES: The Bucs hold an impressive 74-25 lead in the series, based partly off win in the first 41 games. Since 1998, Barry leads just 33-25 and since 2009, the Tars lead 15-5. The Tars have won each of the last two series 2-1.
SERIES TURNS 100: Saturday's game will be the 100
th in the series between the teams, which dates back to before the Bucs were members of the SSC. The Tars will be the sixth team to log 100 games against the Bucs.
