MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry's volleyball team hasn't had the comfort of home in a month. That will change Friday when the Buccaneers host Rollins in the first of two weekend matches at the Health & Sports Center.
Barry (9-8, 2-4 Sunshine State Conference) meets Rollins (9-9, 1-3) at 7 p.m. Friday. The Bucs play Embry-Riddle (10-7) at 4 p.m. Saturday. Both matches will be carried on the
Buccaneer Broadcast Network.
The Bucs have not played at the HSC since beating Florida Tech on Sept. 24. Barry has won all but one of its matches at home this year. Rollins is 1-4 on the road. Embry-Riddle is 1-3.
Barry is hitting .187 this season. Rollins has a .193 attack rate. Embry-Riddle is hitting .186. Barry leads the SSC in blocks at an average of 2.15 blocks per set. While Embry-Riddle is not an official member until next season, the Eagles are averaging 2.41 blocks per set. That dynamic puts a premium on net play this weekend.
Another area of focus is cutting down on errors. Barry has 135 service errors this year. Rollins has 119. Embry-Riddle has 85. The Bucs have committed 32 ball handling errors this year. The Tars and Eagles each have 45. Barry has 355 attack errors. Rollins has committed 406, and Embry-Riddle 281.
