Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WINTER PARK, Fla. -- The Barry University softball team (25-15, 4-8 SSC) split a Sunshine State Conference doubleheader with the Rollins College Tars (34-11, 10-2 SSC) earlier today at Lake Island Park. The Buccaneers won the first game 2-1, but fell in the nightcap 8-0 in five innings.

In the first game, Erin Sutton gave the Bucs an early 1-0 lead after scoring on a Jamie Elam throwing error in the second inning. The Tars responded in the bottom half of the inning when Randi Weiss drove in Elam with an RBI double. In the sixth, freshman Ashley Loose hit an RBI single through the left side of the infield to score Delilah Stroup from third lifting the Bucs to a 2-1 win.

Elizabeth Bennett (20-10) picked up the win for Barry hurling a complete game, while giving up one run on six hits and striking out five. Elam (26-8) suffered the loss for Rollins giving up two runs (one earned) on seven Buccaneer hits and struck out two.

In the nightcap, the Tars wrapped out 11 hits to Barry's one and scored eight runs for an 8-0 win in five innings. With two outs and bases loaded in the fifth, Kiley Sieffert hit a base clearing double to left center giving the Tars the win. Bennett (20-11) gave up six runs on 10 hits and struck out five in the loss for Barry, while Elam (27-8) allowed one hit and struck out six in the win for Rollins.

Both Loose and Stroup went 3 for 6 to lead the Bucs at the plate, with Loose adding the Bucs only RBI. Stacy Sanders finished 4 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored to lead the Tars, while Sieffert finished with a team-high four RBI.

The Buccaneers will return to the friendly confines of Buccaneer Field on Monday, Apr 12 hosting Florida Tech in SSC play at 7 pm.
