Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—The Barry Buccaneers lost a softball doubleheader to the 18th-ranked Alabama-Huntsville Chargers at Metro Kiwanis Park on Thursday, dropping the first game 8-1 and the nightcap 6-3.

The Bucs' (17-10) nine-game winning streak came to a halt in game one. Stephanie Pinto hit a pair of two-run homers and Charger (13-3) pitchers Jessica McKleroy and Jenny Hess (7-1) held the Buccaneer bats in check.

Amanda Moore provided the Bucs their only offense, hitting her sixth home run of the season in the second inning.

Hess relieved McKleroy in the fourth inning and finished the game allowing one hit and two walks, while striking out three. Elizabeth Bennett (13-6) went the distance for the Bucs, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on six hits and six walks while striking out four.

In the second game, the teams traded single runs in the first inning. Barry took a 2-1 lead on Moore's second homer of the day in the second inning.

But the Chargers rallied for three runs in the fourth, with Rachel Hamby knocking in two runs with a single, and two more in the sixth.

Hess picked up her second win in relief, tossing six innings in relief of Lindsey Skinner. She allowed one run on three hits and a walk, striking out four. Sarah Backe (4-4) took the loss for Barry, allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits and five walks, striking out three.

Barry returns home on Friday, Mar. 12 to face the Tampa Spartans at 7:00 pm.
