Box Score 2 CARROLTON, Ga. -- The Barry Buccaneers swept a softball doubleheader from the West Georgia Braves winning game one 4-2 and taking the nightcap 9-5 at the Carroll County Sports Complex on Tuesday.
In game one, the Bucs took an early lead on a sacrifice fly by Kim Fujimoto to score Delilah Stroup. The Braves answered back with a two-run homerun in the fifth by Jessica Wise but Barry's
Maile Keeney had the final answer smacking a three-run home run in the top of the sixth. Elizabeth Bennett (12-5) made the lead stand up as Barry won their sixth straight game.
In the nightcap, Barry broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the second inning and four in the third as they went on to win 9-5. Keeney and Amanda Moore both homered in the win. Sarah Backe (3-3) earned the win with 4 innings of work and Bennett picked up her second save by working the final three. Barry (15-8) has now won seven in a row, while the Braves drop to 5-15.
Keeney had four hits in the doubleheader, including a double and two homers, scored three and drove in seven. Stroup also had four hits. Jessica Wise had four hits, including a double and a homer, and drove in four to pace the Braves.
Barry will face North Alabama in Huntsville, Alabama on Wed. at 2:00 pm.
