Box Score 2 MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry University softball team blanked the Eckerd College Tritons earlier today winning both games 8-0 in five innings
In the first game, the Buccaneers took advantage of three Triton errors in the second innings and scored seven runs to take an early 7-0 lead. They added their final run in the fourth to win by the five-innings NCAA mercy rule. Five Buccaneers posted a hit and an RBI each.
Geralyn Elam (24-3) hurled her fourth-career perfect game fanning 11 in five innings to pick up the win. Kayla Walker (0-17) took the loss for the Tritons giving up eight unearned runs on six hits, struck out one and walked five.
The Buccaneers completed the season series sweep with another 8-0 win in the nightcap. The Bucs scored three in the first, one in the second and four in the third for the win and pounded out eight hits in the winning efforts.
Erin Cormier (16-2) gave up five hits and struck out nine to earn the win for Barry, while Kristina Lemon gave up eight runs (four earned) on eight hits in the loss.
The Buccaneers improved to 40-7 overall and 17-1 in the SSC, while the Tritons fell to 3-44, 1-17 SSC. The Buccaneers return to action Saturday, Apr 12 at Florida Southern at 1 pm.
