Box Score 2 KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- The Barry University softball team rounded out the Rebel Games earlier today with two wins, defeating Wayne State (Mich.) in the opener followed with an 8-2 win over Lake Superior in the nightcap.
In the first game, KD Smith gave the Buccaneers an early 1-0 lead in the first. The Bucs added a run in the third, sixth, and seventh innings to take the win 4-2 over Wayne State (5-3). Smith, Sarah White, and Kim Fujimoto led the Bucs with two hits apiece, while White scored two runs.
Geralyn Elam (14-2) hurled five innings, struck out one and gave up two runs (one earned) for the win. Erin Cormier picked up the save in the final two innings, her second of the season. Lisa Gauthien (1-1) gave up four runs and walked four in the loss for Wayne State.
In the nightcap, the Buccaneers eased past Lake Superior (0-15) 8-2. Led by Fujimoto's three-for-three and two RBI performance at the plate, the Buccaneers rapped out 12 hits en route to the win. Amanda Moore was also perfect at the plate going one-for-one with three RBI and a home run.
Cormier (8-1) hurled the complete game, gave up two runs on five hits and struck out three to earn the win. Raelyn Zbtowski (0-6) gave up five runs and eight hits in 2.1 innings for the loss.
The Buccaneers finish 5-1 at the Rebel Spring games while improving to 22-5 overall. The Bucs return to the friendly confines of Buccaneer Field this weekend Mar. 15 diving head first into Sunshine State Conference play hosting Florida Southern at 1 pm.
