Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Barry's pitching ace, Geralyn Elam, hurled her 17th complete-game shutout of the season as the Buccaneers (40-13) eased past the Kentucky State Thorobrettes (23-6) 6-0 in the second game of the NCAA South Regional softball tournament hosted at Barry University.

After struggling in the first inning offensively, the Buccaneers' Jenny Miranda reached base after being hit by a pitch then scored on an early Kentucky State error giving the Bucs a 1-0 lead. Barry went on to add one run in each of the next two innings taking a 3-0 lead over the Thorobrettes.

In the bottom of the fifth, Barry's Sarah White closed the door of hope for Kentucky State with a two-run homer to left-center giving her team a 5-0 advantage. However, in the bottom of the sixth, White again came through with an RBI single scoring Delilah Stroup to seal the 6-0 victory for Barry.

"Our pitching was a huge factor, with Geralyn keeping them under control and Carrie Roberts calling a great game behind the plate," Barry head coach Shelly Lis said. "We struggled a little bit early in the game offensively, but we were able to take advantage of some mistakes the other team made and finally we made some adjustments and started hitting the ball."

Elam (28-4) earned the win in today's game for the Bucs, pitching her first career perfect game as a Buccaneer and adding 13 strikeouts. It was also her third no-hitter on the season. Barbara Wilhelm (17-2) took the loss for Kentucky State giving up six runs (four earned) on nine Buccaneer hits and struck out four.

Pacing the Bucs at the plate, White was two-for-four with a home run and four RBI and a run scored, while Hillary Hamilton was also two-for-four and a run scored.

Kentucky State (23-6) falls to the loser bracket to face Delta State at 6:30 p.m. later tonight, while the, Barry (40-13) advances safely to the next round and will face the winner of the Kentucky State/Delta State match-up tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m.
