Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The Barry Buccaneers and Florida Southern Moccasins split a Sunshine State Conference softball doubleheader at Buccaneer Field Sunday afternoon, winning game one 3-1 and dropping the nightcap 1-0.

The Buccaneers took game one behind a three-run homer from KD Smith and one-hitter from Geralyn Elam (17-2).

The Mocs struck first in the opening frame. Jackie Pavone struck out, but reached on a passed ball by Barry catcher Carrie Roberts. Katie Wolfe ripped an RBI double to plate the run.

Smith grabbed the lead with her homer in the fourth inning.

Elam went the distance, allowing only one hit and two walks, while striking out eight.

In the second game, FSC's Teri Morgan (8-10), who had taken the loss in the first game, bounced back to toss a three-hit shutout. She gave up one walk and struck out two.

The Mocs got the games' only run in the sixth inning. They loaded the bases with no outs and scored when Robert's pickoff attempt at third base went awry allowing Sara Lentz to trot home with the winning run.

Erin Cormier (6-2) took the loss, allowing five hits in five innings with four strikeouts.

The Buccaneers (26-8, 11-3 SSC) remain in first place in the conference. The Moccasins (17-23, 7-9 SSC) are in fifth place.
