Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 FORT Lauderdale, Fla.--The Barry softball team swept a doubleheader from Nova Southeastern 2-0 and 2-1 on Thursday night at the Griffin Sports Complex.

In game one, Geralyn Elam (20-3) tossed her second no-hitter of the season, striking out 10 without a walk. She allowed only two runners on base, both by error.

KD Smith provided all the offense Elam would need with a two-run homer in the third inning.

Kristina Harvin (9-5) took the loss for the Knights. She went the distance, allowing the two earned runs on six hits and striking out seven.

In game two, the Bucs scratched a run in the second inning when Lindsey Rhodes walked and stole second then came home on an infield single by Nora Conroy.

But the Knights came back to tie it up in the fifth. After loading the bases with one out, the Knights tapped into a fielder's choice to erase the lead runner. But with two away, Stacy Melnick slapped a single past shortstop to plate Jen Garcia.

The Bucs scored the deciding run in the sixth. Smith walked to lead off the inning and went to second on a sacrifice by Carrie Roberts. One out later, Rhodes drove a ball back to fence which Melnick was unable to come up with and Smith trotted home with the run.

Erin Cormier (7-4) went the distance to earn her first win in four decisions. She allowed six hits and an unearned run, while striking out four. Garcia (4-4) took the loss for Nova, giving up two earned runs on three hits and two walks with eight strikeouts.

The Bucs improve to 30-12 on the season, while the Knights drop to 22-12. The win snaps a modest three-game losing streak for the Bucs and gives them one more win than last season with 10 games left to play. Barry hosts Rollins on Saturday at 4:00 pm and Florida Tech on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
