Softball Downs Riderettes

Box Score MAGNOLIA, Ark. -- Keeping their bats alive, the Barry University softball team pounded out 11 hits downing the Southern Arkansas Riderettes 4-0 earlier this afternoon.

Scoring a run in the second, two in the fourth, and adding one more run in the sixth was all the Buccaneers needed to take the third straight game from the Riderettes 4-0.

Erin Cormier (4-1) earned the win for the Bucs throwing a seven-inning shutout giving up only four Riderette hits, while striking out six. Cassie Blackwood (5-6) took the loss for SAU going the distance giving up four runs (three earned) on 11 Buccaneer hits, while striking out three.

Cormier also led the Bucs at the plate going two-for-three with two RBI. Jenny Miranda was also two-for-three with two runs scored and a stolen base. Kristina Sacarras added a triple, while Sarah White chipped in a double on the day.

The Bucs improved to 14-5 overall, while the Riderettes fell to 9-17. The Buccaneers will wrap up their Arkansas trip with a single game versus Henderson State on Sunday, Mar. 10 at 1 p.m.
