Softball Lands Sailfish

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The Barry University softball team sweeps a double-header landing the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish 4-0, and 6-2 earlier tonight.

In the first game, Geralyn Elam (2-0) earned the win for the Buccaneers with a no-hitter, allowing no walks, while striking out nine. Kim Boardman (0-3) took the loss allowing ten hits, four runs (three earned), three walks, while striking out two.

The Bucs were led by Regan Riley who came in off the bench going 2-for-2 with two doubles, an RBI, and scoring once. Lindsey Rhodes went 2-for-4 with a single and a double, while Hillary Hamilton went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

In the second game, Lindsey Rhodes (1-2) got the starting nod earning her first win of the 2002 season. She hurled 7.0 innings giving up only three hits, two walks and two unearned runs, while striking out eight. Lindsay Reid (0-3) took the loss for the Sailfish throwing 7.0 innings giving up nine hits, six runs (two earned), four walks, while striking out two.

Hillary Hamilton led the Bucs at the plate in the nightcap going 3-for-4 scoring a run and an RBI. The Bucs scored all six of their runs in the top of the seventh inning.

The Buccaneers improve to 4-2 overall on the season while the Sailfish fall to 0-6. The Bucs will resume action this weekend at the Super 8 Slugfest hosted by Valdosta with their first opponent being West Georgia on Sat. Feb. 22 at 5:00 p.m.
