After being the closer and spot starter the past few season, Hernandez emerged as a starter, going 7-0 in 2008 including one complete game performance.... Recorded a career best 51.1 innings pitched.
SOPHOMORE (2007): Led the team with 17 appearances ... Posted a 3.26 earned run average and struck out 53 in 49.2 innings with only 23 walks ... Recorded six saves as the Bucs’ closer ... Made six starts and hurled four complete games with a 5-1 record on the hill.
FRESHMAN (2006): Had an outstanding rookie campaign, going 4-1 with a 4.71 ERA in 13 games ... Struck out 28 and walked just 11 in 28.2 innings ... Held opponents to a .238 average ... Won his only start with five innings against Philadelphia 8-6 in Mar. 5 ... Struck out seven of 10 batters in 3.1 perfect innings in 12-5 win over Palm Beach Atlantic on Apr. 25 ... Picked up relief wins in conference against Lynn and Eckerd ... Went 2.2 scoreless innings against the Tritons, striking out five.
