HIGH SCHOOL: Was a four-year letterman for coach Mike McMillan at Northeast High ... Team MVP for the Hurricanes as a junior and senior ... Went 5-2 with a 1.70 ERA and 75 strikeouts in 47 innings ... Also hit .524 with five homers and 32 RBI, stealing 11 bases ... Earned First-Team All-County and Third-Team All-State as a senior.
