MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry University men's basketball team welcomes another addition from the Indiana State Sycamores, as Sivert Nordheim joins the roster for the 2026-27 season.
"I was fortunate to be a part of Sivert's recruiting process at Indiana State," head coach Justin Furr said. "When we found out that he was planning to leave, we were excited about the possibility of bringing him to Barry. Sivert is a phenomenal person and fits perfectly into our system here as a swing who can make shots as well as be an elite cutter. His experience in playing for Coach Graves at ISU will be beneficial for us, as he brings corporate knowledge of our offensive and defensive system to Barry. Like some of our other signees, he has extensive FIBA experience and a very high basketball IQ. I am excited to coach Sivert and look forward to his contributions at BarryU."
A 6-6 guard who spent time last season with NCAA Division I Indiana State Sycamores, saw limited minutes in a bench role. Nordheim played 77 minutes over the course of 18 games, Nordheim averaged 13.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 0.5 steals, and 0.5 blocks per 36 minutes.
Sivert scored a season-high nine points in a game against Eureka on December 2 while shooting 4-7 from the floor. Nordheim scored seven points in a 94-89 win against the rival Illinois St. on January 14. During this past season with Indiana State, Sivert shot 80 percent from the free-throw line.
"I chose to come to Barry because I believe in what Coach Furr and the program are building," Nordheim said. "I have a great relationship with Coach Furr and trust that he will put me and the team in the best position to have success. There have also been multiple Norwegian basketball players at Barry in the past, and after speaking with some of them about their experiences, I know Barry will be a great place for me to develop on and off the floor."
The Buccaneers are coming off a 17-13 record and a Sunshine State Conference Semifinals appearance.
