Cote Joins Men's Basketball For 2026-27

Welcome Gavin Cote

Men's Basketball | 6/25/2026 10:00:00 AM

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Senior wing Gavin Cote joins the men's basketball team for the 2026-27 season, head coach Justin Furr announced today.

"As a staff, we wanted to address two weaknesses in the offseason: shooting and size. Gavin Cote checks both those boxes," Furr said. "He has the ability to make shots at a high level and has made a complete commitment to making sure he is in the best physical shape of his life. He made it clear during the recruiting process that he wanted to be pushed to his limits and be able to use his experience to help lead our program. My experience with players has been that those who really want to be where they are oftentimes end up achieving more than even they think possible. We believe that Gavin is in that mindset. Looking forward to having him join us here in The Shores!"

A 6-5 guard/forward, Gavin spent the past three seasons with NCAA Division II Clarion Golden Eagles. Cote was a full-time starter for Clarion during the past two seasons, averaging 29 minutes while starting 54 games.

During his junior season with the Golden Eagles, Cote improved his scoring up to 14.5 points per game while shooting 39.6 percent from field and 37.4 percent from three. Cote has steadily improved defensively with Clarion, rebounds and steals went year over year up to 3.3 rebounds and 22 steals.

"I chose Barry because of the family atmosphere," Cote said. "From the moment I stepped on campus, the coaches made me feel welcomed and valued. I wanted to be challenged both on and off the court, and I believe what Coach Furr is building provides exactly that. I'm excited to be part of a program with a strong culture and cannot wait to get to Miami Shores."

The Buccaneers are coming off a 17-13 record and a Sunshine State Conference Semifinals appearance.
