ORLANDO, Fla -The number-one-ranked Barry women's tennis team has secured its fourth weekly honor from the Sunshine State Conference, as the No. 31-ranked
Viktoriia Dema has earned her second SSC Women's Tennis Player of the Week award, presented by Pollo Compreo, for the week of March 16–22. Dema earned the recognition following a standout stretch that helped propel the Bucs to four home victories, highlighted by a key conference win over No. 33 Rollins.
Barry opened the week in dominant fashion with a 7–0 sweep over No. 41 Wayne State. Dema played a key role, teaming up with Anastasia Nikolova to secure the doubles point with a 6–2 victory. She carried that momentum into singles, earning a hard-fought win over her opponent by taking a first-set tiebreaker, 7–6(2), before closing out the match 6–4 to put the Bucs on the brink of clinching. The Bucs continued their strong play in their third conference matchup of the season, defeating Rollins 6–1. Once again, Dema was instrumental in doubles, partnering again with Nikolova to secure a commanding 6–0 win that helped Barry claim the early advantage. She followed with a decisive singles performance, winning 7–5, 6–0 to add another point to the scoreboard. Barry capped off the week with an impressive victory over No. 15 Valdosta State. Dema contributed early by helping secure the doubles point alongside Nikolova with a 6–1 win. She then delivered another strong singles performance, battling through a first-set tiebreaker, 7–6(3), before closing out the match to help seal the Bucs victory.
The Bucs will return to action on Saturday, March 28, as they travel to St. Leo, Florida, for their fourth conference matchup of the season against No. 43 Saint Leo.
