ORLANDO - Barry junior first baseman Jalen Smith earned the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week, as presented by Pollo Compero for Mar. 16-22.
The Tampa, Fla., native led the Bucs to a series win against Saint Leo, recording four doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI in the three-game road series. He posted a 1.286 slugging percentage, tallying multiple hits in each game. Both of his home runs came in the final game of the series, a solo shot in the first inning and a three-run bomb in the seventh, accounting for four runs in the Bucs' 7-5 win.
The award is the first of his career.
Barry takes on Nova Southeastern in a non-conference game on Tuesday before hosting the Eckerd Tritons in an SSC set on the weekend.
