MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA)/GoRout released their weekly NCAA Division II Softball Rankings on Tuesday afternoon, Barry University checked in at no. 22 for their first ranking since 2015.
The Bucs are siting at 22-8 on the season and 8-1 in Sunshine State Conference action. They are currently 5-3 against ranked opponents with highlights coming in two series wins against then no. 19 Wingate and then no. 22 Nova Southeastern. Barry's offense has been strong reason for their success as they are currently leading the nation at all levels in doubles, as the only team with 60 on the year. Three players have brought home weekly honors in the SSC in
Becka Mellor,
Mac Stone-Folmar, and most recently
Sarah Langlie.
Caroline Figueroa is the nation's leader in doubles with 13. Langlie is right behind her with 12. The Bucs have also set a new win streak in the
Sean Cotter era with 12 in a row.
Barry will get back into Sunshine State Conference action with a weekend series up at Saint Leo, action begins Friday, March 14 with first pitch at 6:00 p.m.
