Long Ball Routs Softball Past Lynn

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Barry softball team earned to wins on the day over Lynn, the first coming in a seven-minute standoff after the anthem. The next was with the actual play on the diamond. Barry took the Sunshine State Conference series opener over the Fighting Knights 7-1 from Buccaneer Field.

SUMMARY:

  • B1 – A ground ball double play ended the top of the first and gave Barry momentum heading into the bottom half. The inning started with two quick outs, but Harper Bunn extended it with a two-out double to straight away center. Sarah Langlie then had the RBI-single to bring her in.   • B4 – The bases were loaded with one out and Sadie Haefeli delivered on her first career extra base hit with a double that scored two. Serah Shafer did what she does best, dropping the perfect bunt to reach safely and bring a run in. | Barry 7, Lynn 1

NOTEWORTHY:

  • It is the seventh straight win over Lynn.
  • Chandler Barry extended her team lead home runs to six.
  • The Bucs have now exceeded their home run total from last year currently sitting at 19.
  • It is the sixth multi-home run game for the Bucs this season.
  • Shafer had her team-leading 18th multi-hit game this season.
  • Alexis Martin went the distance for her ninth win of the season, her 30th overall as a Buccaneer.
  • From the last out of the third to the leadoff hitter in the seventh, Martine retired 10 straight hitters.

ON THE HORIZON:

Barry will close of the series against Lynn with a double header on Friday, starting at 4:00 p.m.
