Women's Tennis Takes on the ITA Regional Championship

PENSACOLA, Fla.- Thursday, Oct. 2nd marked the start of the ITA Regional Championships, where the Bucs started by completing the doubles tournament. The following day, on Friday, Oct. 3rd, the Bucs headed into the start of the Singles tournament. The second day of the singles tournament kicked off on Saturday, Oct. 3rd, where Dana Heiman was the only Bucs to make it to the semifinals. Sunday, Oct. 5th, marked the end of the singles tournament for the Bucs.

Singles Day 3 Results 

After a great run in the tournament, fifth-seeded Dana Heiman was taken down in the semifinals by the fourth seed, marking the end of the tournament for Barry. 

  • Salama Djoubri (Lynn) def. Dana Heiman (Barry) 6-2, 6-0

Singles Day 2 Results

Alina Michalitsch started her first set tied, and after going to a tiebreaker, she lost to her opponent in a demanding final set. Dana Heimen, the fifth seed, had a breakout day winning both her matches and being the only Buc to make it to the semifinals.  Viktoriia Dema won her first match of the day against the 14th seed and moved on to the quarterfinals, where she lost to the sixth seed.

Singles Day 1 Results

Alina Michalitsch heads into the tournament as the third seed and completes her first day of matches with two wins that secure her a spot in the round of 16. Next, she will fight for her sport against Chloe Henderson from NSU. Fifth seed Dana Heimen also secured her spot in the next day's round of 16 after two quick wins in the first two rounds. She will go on to play Aliyah Dwyer from Lee. Viktoriia Dema enters the tournament seeded Sixth and is the third Buc of the day to make it to the next day's round of 16. She then plays Guadalupe Martínez, the 14th seed, in the next round. Louane Lutringer is unseeded heading into the tournament, but gets a fierce win in the round of 64. She headed into the round of 32 but was taken down by the fourth seed after a hard-fought match.

Doubles Results

Dana Heimen & Anastasia-Aleksandra Nikolova came into the doubles tournament seeded first and, after shutout wins in the first four rounds, lost in the semi-finals. Six-seed Alien Crespo & Jenifer Anger fought hard in the round of 32 and the round of 16 but took a loss in the quarterfinals.
