LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Barry Buccaneers ranked 20th in NCAA Division II softball in the Easton/NFCA Team GPA Award. In addition, 12 players secured individual All-America Scholar-Athlete awards.
The 22 members of the team finished the 2023-24 academic year with a 3.654 GPA, ranking 20th in NCAA Division II and first among Sunshine State Conference schools. Embry-Riddle (#26), Eckerd (T-34), Florida Tech (67), Tampa (T-74) and Florida Southern (84) were also among 89 programs recognized in the division.
Individually, Maci Barnhart, Maggie Boyd, Sofia Chamorro, Caroline Figueroa, Cassandra Lee, Becka Mellor, Brooke Moeller, Jaden Rogers, Brooklyn Rushton, Mac Stone-Folmar, Taylor Thompson and Angel Villanueva earned Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete.
Lee, Thompson and Villanueva all earned their fourth career award. Barnhart, Mellor and Stone-Folmar received their third. Chamorro, Moeller and Rushton made it for the second time, while Boyd, Figueroa and Rogers got their first as Buccaneers.
Barry finished the season 34-18, 19-11 in the SSC, the best record for the program since 2013 when they went 34-20, 19-5.
