MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (April 18, 2023) -- Head coach Butch Estes and the men's basketball team have received a commitment from Miami Country Day senior Sami Elkamel to join the Buccaneer squad in fall of 2023.

"We are so excited to get a player from Coach Ralph Matta's Miami Country Day program," says Estes. "He has built a quality program based on a lot of talented players. Sami impressed us early with his aggressiveness and athletic ability. I think he will really help us in the defensive and rebounding areas and as he continues to develop his overall game, his high energy and motor will serve him well."

Elkamel averaged 14 points, eight rebounds, and two blocked shots per game during his senior year for the Spartans. It's just an eight-minute bike ride from the Miami Country Day campus to the Cesar Odio Court in the Health & Sports Center on the Buccaneer campus in Miami Shores.

"I chose Barry because of the relationship I built with the coaches and players and how wanted I felt there," says the 6-foot-8 forward from Fort Lauderdale.

Elkamel joins the Buccaneer class of 2027 along with Michael Bradley Jr., Gabe Hernandez, and Gavin Welch.
