MELBOURNE, Fla. -- The Barry University men's basketball team fell by one to the Panthers of Florida Institute of Technology, 96-95, at the Clemente Center in Sunshine State Conference (SSC) action Wednesday evening.

All-Time Series: Buccaneers lead, 46-28, and have won nine of last 11 meetings. Panthers ended a nine-game skid with back-to-back wins at the Clemente Center.

  • 1H - James Montgomery led the Buccaneers with 14 points in the opening half. Michael Schaefer's jumper gave Barry had a five-point advantage, 14-9, before Florida Tech took a 23-5 run for a double-digit lead. Sean Houpt led all players with 17 points in the first half as the Panthers had their largest lead, 53-39, trimmed to eight at the break when the Buccaneers finished with a 6-0 spurt in the last 1:06.   • 2H - Niall Harris and Sesan Russell hit 3-pointers in the first couple of minutes of the second half as Florida Tech expanded its margin to 11 points, 61-50. Michael Schaefer's jumper at 14:32 brought the Buccaneer deficit into single digits where it remained the rest of the way.
