MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Head coach Justin Furr released the 2026-27 slate of games for the Buccaneer men's basketball team today. The Bucs will play 14 of 28 games on Cesar Odio Court in the Health & Sports Center, where the team has compiled a 344-164 record since 1990.
The Bucs are coming off a 17-14 campaign, 11-9 in the Sunshine State Conference. They fell in the semifinals of the conference tournament to eventual champion Nova Southeastern. The Bucs return seven lettermen from that squad. Michael Bradley III, a starter in 15 games, averaged 4.3 points per game while Ryan Van Eyck, who started 11, is the leading returning scorer at 7.1 points per game. Van Eyck is also the leading rebounder back at 3.7 per game and assister with 3.2 per game.
"Going into Year Two, we wanted to test our team early to see where we stand," Furr said. "With so many new faces, we want to make sure we are giving our players an opportunity to see what high-level Division II basketball looks like. The early season crossover offers us two regional games against quality opponents in UAH and Montevallo.
"Since we jump into SSC play so quickly, we knew we needed to get some home games under our belt to provide us with the experience necessary to compete at that level. The early December game at FAU gives us an opportunity to play an in-state team out of the American Athletic Conference. Our trip to Puerto Rico will offer our guys two true road tests, while also giving us a chance to get more connected before we enter the heart of our schedule in January and February. As always, the SSC is a gauntlet and has different challenges each night with so many great coaches in the league. We look forward to competing and providing Barry U and our fans with a great product."
The Bucs play three exhibition games, including a trip to FIU in October, a home game against Atlantis in November and one contest at FAU in December.
The regular season tips off at the Sunshine State Conference/Gulf South Conference Crossover, hosted this year by UAH in Huntsville, Ala., on Nov. 13-14. The Bucs face the host Chargers on Friday and play Montevallo on Saturday. The Chargers are coming off a 23-10 campaign that saw them play for the GSC and NCAA South Regional titles. After an overtime win last year in the crossover, the Chargers lead the overall series 6-4. Montevallo went 22-9 last year, falling in the NCAA Regional semifinals to Nova Southeastern. The Falcons also won last season at the crossover and lead the overall series 3-1.
The Bucs get into SSC play on Nov. 21 with a trip to Saint Leo. The Lions finished last in the SSC in 2025-26, going 7-21, 2-18 in the league. Barry swept the season series, to break a tie in the overall and lead 45-43 now.
Barry host the Gallitos of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras on Nov. 25. The Bucs have won all four meetings with the Gallitos, but have not faced them since 2014. They went a combined 9-13 against NCAA and LAI competition last year.
The Webber International Warriors visit the HSC on Nov. 28. The Warriors went 10-19 last year, including a loss in the quarterfinals of the SUN Conference Tournament. Winning the last seven in a row, Barry leads the series 7-3, including a 71-58 win last year.
December opens with a trip to the de Hoernle Center to face arch-rival Lynn on the second. The Knights were 14-14, 9-11 in the SSC, last season, falling to Palm Beach Atlantic in the SSC quarterfinals. Barry won both meetings with the Knights last year to extend their lead in the series to 37-31.
On Dec. 5, the Bucs visit the Embry-Riddle Eagles. The Eagles were 12-15, 10-10 in the league, falling in the quarterfinal of the tournament to Florida Southern. The teams have split the regular season series the last three seasons, but the Bucs hold a 17-9 edge overall.
The Bucs face Palm Beach Atlantic on the road on Dec. 12. The Sailfish are coming off their best season ever, going 26-6, 16-4 in the league. They advanced to SSC Championship game, received an NCAA Tournament Bid for only the second time, but fell to UAH in the quarterfinals of the regional. The Bucs split the season series with the 'Fish, each winning on the road, but lead the overall 36-14.
Barry hosts the Rams of South Florida Bible on Dec. 15, after dispatching them in their initial meeting last year.
The Bucs travel to Puerto Rico Dec. 18-19 to face Rio Piedras and Bayamon. It is only the Bucs' second trip to the island. The Bucs went in December of 1997 to play three games, beating Bayamon and US Virgin Islands, but falling to American University. After taking on the Gallitos, this time on the road, the Bucs tangle with the Vacqueros of Bayamon on Dec. 19. The Vacqueros went a combined 11-14 last season, but 0-9 in NCAA Division II play. Barry has won all eight meetings, including the only in in Puerto Rico.
The Bucs return from Christmas break against the Fort Lauderdale Eagles on Dec. 30. The Bucs are 4-0 all-time including a win last season. The Eagles were 11-16 in 2025-26.
The Bucs dive into SSC play full-time in January, starting with a home game against Eckerd on Jan. 2. The Tritons were 13-15 last season, including 7-13 in the SSC. The Bucs have won five straight over the Tritons, including both games last year, but Eckerd maintains a 47-43 edge overall.
Barry tackles the Tampa Spartans in the Martinez Center on Jan. 6. The Spartans went 16-12, 10-10 in the conference in 2025-26. The teams splits the regular season series, with each winning on their opponent's court, but Barry got the final word with a 96-85 win at home in the SSC Quarterfinals. The Spartans still hold a 5-36 edge in the all-time series.
The Buccaneers host the Florida Southern Moccasins on Jan. 9. The Mocs went 22-11 last season, 13-7 in the league. They fell to Sailfish in the SSC semifinals and to Montevallo in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Regional. After winning both meetings last year, they lead the all-time series 62-29.
Florida Tech hosts the Bucs on Jan. 13 in the Clemente Center. The Panthers went 10-18, 6-14 in the SSC, last year. Both teams won on their home court last year, but Barry still leads 48-33 overall.
Barry plays three straight at home from Jan. 16-23. On the 16th, they take on the Rollins Tars. Rollins went 13-16, 7-13 in the league last year, splitting road wins with the Bucs along the way. The Tars lead 55-33 overall. On the 20th, Barry faces Nova Southeastern, coming off a 35-2 mark and the SSC regular season and tournament titles. They also won the NCAA Regional and advanced to the Elite 8, falling in the semifinals to Lander. The Sharks, who won all three meetings last year, have won 20 in a row, although Barry still has a 42-39 edge in the series. On the 23rd, the Bucs face the ERAU Eagles as the second trip through the conference gets underway.
The Bucs close the month the same way they started it, playing Eckerd, this time in the McArthur Center.
In February, Barry hosts Palm Beach Atlantic (Feb. 2), Saint Leo (Feb. 13), Florida Tech (Feb. 17) and Tampa (Feb. 27). The game against the Spartans will mark Senior Day in The Shores. The Bucs visit Rollins (Feb. 6), Lynn (Feb. 10), Florida Southern (Feb. 20) and Nova Southeastern (Feb. 24).
The SSC Tournament runs Mar. 2-7, with the quarterfinals on Mar. 2, semifinals on Mar. 4 and the championship game on Mar. 7, all being hosted by the higher seed.
NCAA Tournament bids are announced on Mar. 7, with the Regionals scheduled for Mar. 12-16 and the Elite 8, hosted by Great Midwest Athletic Conference and Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind., from Mar. 23-27.
