MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--Barry softball players Payton Germer and Maci Barnhart earned Academic All-South Region softball honors for the spring of 2022.
Senior Germer is a second-time winner, having earned academic all-region honors last year as well. She graduated with 3.96 GPA in management and has a 4.0 GPA as a graduate student in math education. Germer led the Bucs to a 29-22 mark this spring, starting 40 of 51 behind the dish. She slashed .252/.360/.449 with three doubles, three triples and a team-high five homers. She drove in 21 runs and scored 23.
Sophomore Barnhart earned Second-Team All-Sunshine State Conference honors as a pitcher, after leading the conference with 212 innings and 173 strikeouts. She went 19-14 in the circle with three saves and a 1.72 ERA. The psychology major carries a 3.61 GPA.
The 2021-22 Academic All-District® Softball Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late July.
The CoSIDA Academic All-South Region® team includes the student-athletes listed below and includes student-athletes from the Sunshine State Conference, Gulf South Conference and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
