Box Score 2 TAMPA -- The Barry Buccaneers split Sunshine State Conference baseball doubleheader with the top-ranked Tampa Spartans, winning 13-6 in the opener, but dropping the rubber game 5-3.

Game 1 
	- B1: The Spartans struck first, as Giovany Lorenzo singled in Drew Ehrhard with two outs. | Tampa 1, Barry 0
 
	- T3: The Bucs grabbed the lead in the third. Danny Cunnigham led off with a single and Omar Baldo walked. Ihosvany Castaneda loded the bases with a single to left. Joe Stell cashed in two runs with another base hit to left. | Barry 2, Tampa 1
 
	- B6: Tampa moved back in front on a two-run homer by Dan Sullivan. | Tampa 3, Barry 2
 
	- T7: The Bucs batted around and scored four times in the seventh. Cunnigham and Baldo walked and moved to second and third on a passed ball. Stella came up with another two-run single. Kevin Noriega had a base hit to right  to send Stella to third. Stella scored on another passed ball by Spartan catcher Josh Rulli. 	- T8: The Bucs put the nails in the Spartans' coffin in the eighth, sending 12 men to the plate and scoring six runs. After Branden Abreu singled and stole second and Baldo walked, Castaneda drove in Abreu with a single to left. The Bucs loaded the bases when Stella reached on a fielder's choice, but the Spartans were unable to record the out. Noriega poked a single through the left side to score two runs and Torres followed with another RBI double. Brandon Sanchez singled in Noriega and Torres scored on a  ground out. | Barry 12, Tampa 5

Game 2
	- B1: Tampa got on the board first again in the second game. Sullivan singled to drive in Lala. | Tampa 1, Barry 0
 
	- T2: In the next frame, Noriega singled to lead off and Torres drew a four-pitch walk. After a wild pitch moved them up, David Vazquez singled to bring both home. | Barry 2, Tampa 1
 
	- B4: Tampa took back the lead in the fourth. Mac Jorgensen had a two-run double and Lala and Ehrhard each had RBI singles. | Tampa 5, Barry 2
 
	- T6: The Bucs trimed one run off the lead in the sixth. Castaneda led off with a double to left and scored on a single by Noriega. | Tampa 5, Barry 3
 
NOTEWORTHY:
	- Trevor Baker (2-1) worked six innings in the first game to earn the win. He allowed three runs on four hits and two walks.
 
	- Anthony Bennetti worked the final thre innings for his first save. He allowed three runs on three hits and two walks and struck out four.
 
	- Braden Forsyth (1-1) took the loss for the Spartans. In 0.2 innings, he allowed four runs on three hits and three walks. 
 
	- In the nightcap, Chad Baker (1-2) took the loss giving up four runs on three hits in one inning.
 
	- Alex Passarella (1-0) worked four innings in relief, allowing a run on four hits and striking out seven.
 
	- Braydon Nelson gave up a hit and walk and in the ninth, but got out of the jam without a run to earn his eighth save.
 
	- Stella was 5-for-10 with four RBI in the doubleheader.
 
	- Noriega was 4-for-9 and dove in three.
 
ON THE HORIZON:
The Bucs host Nova Southeastern in another SSC series Friday and Saturday at Feinbloom Field.Â
