ENDMOND, Okla. -- The Barry Buccaneers women's tennis team will kick off on Saturday, Feb. 26 at Edmond, OK., 11:00am against No. 9 Flagler in the National Indoor Championships.
Due to inclement weather, the start of the 2022 ITA Division II Women's National Team Indoor Championship has been moved to Saturday, February 26. The tournament will run through Monday, February 28.
Eight of the top teams in Division II Women's tennis will all converge in Edmond, Oklahoma this weekend as they compete in the 2022 ITA Division II Women's National Team Indoor Championship. Chosen based on their year-end ranking after the 2021 Spring season, all eight teams in the 2022 DII Women's National Team Indoor Championship currently rank within the Top-15 of the Feb. 17 Division II Women's Top 25 Coaches Poll, including the top six ranked teams in the country.
Barry will enter the 2022 National Indoor Championship as the No. 1 seed after an impressive 2021 Spring season in which they finished undefeated and won their fourth-straight NCAA National Championship.
The Bucs will be led by
Deniz Khazan who won the ITA Cup Women's Singles Title this past Fall and ranked atop the December 1 ITA Collegiate Tennis Division II Women's National Rankings. Khazan leads the conference and region in singles and after earning the 2021 Sunshine State Conference Female Athlete of the Year.
Kim Moosbacher ranks15th in singles and third in doubles with partner
Daniela Farfan.
Jil Engelmann is a returning All-American in singles, while
Madeline Bosnjak teamed with Khazan for a 2020 doubles award.
Tournament play is set to begin at 8 a.m. (CST) on Saturday, February 26 with the Championship match being played on Monday, February 28.
The ITA National Team Indoor Championship is a single-elimination event, but all participating teams are guaranteed three matches.
